Overview
Translate It is a client-side translation tool that works inside your browser. There is no central Translate It translation server: translation, transcription, and dubbing are performed through the providers and endpoints you select or configure.
Translate It does not centrally collect, store, monitor, or sell your personal data, translation history, or processed extension content.
How Translation Works
Your extension settings and API keys are stored locally in your browser’s extension storage.
You choose which translation service handles your content: a cloud provider, a custom endpoint, a local provider, or a self-hosted service.
To perform a translation, the content required for the request is sent to the provider or endpoint you selected.
If you use Live Dubbing, captured tab audio may be sent to the selected provider so it can be transcribed or dubbed.
If you configure a proxy, your requests may be routed through that proxy.
Third-Party Services
Cloud providers and other third-party services are controlled by their respective operators, not by Translate It. Custom, local, or self-hosted endpoints and proxies are controlled by whoever operates and configures them, which may be you.
Third-party services follow their own terms of service and privacy practices. Review them before entering API keys or sending content through them.
Website Data
The Translate It website stores limited preferences locally in your browser, such as your theme choice.
The website runs on third-party hosting infrastructure, which may process normal request and security metadata, such as IP addresses and security logs.
Administrative content management authentication may use GitHub.
Transparency and Open Source
Translate It is open source. Its source code is publicly available for review, allowing users to inspect how the extension handles data and communicates with configured providers and endpoints.

Security
Protect your API keys as you would a password. Verify custom endpoints and proxies before use, keep your browser and the extension up to date, and revoke or replace any key you believe may be exposed.
Children’s Privacy
Translate It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data through any central Translate It service.
